Who We Are
The Difference of One is a non-profit organization based on the idea that one person can and does make a difference in this world.
Our Organization's Mission
Through our One Plus One Equals One Million Campaign we intend to raise one million dollars by collecting one dollar each from one million individual people and donating it to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Who We Serve
Approximately 1 million people in the US have Parkinson's Disease. With this million dollars, the Michael J. Fox Foundation would be well on its way to meeting their goal of finding a cure for Parkinson's disease within the decade.
Leadership Profile
Michelle Roos has spent the last decade doing grass-roots organizing on environmental issues. In December 2006 her father was diagnosed with a degenerative disease similar to Parkinson's. In May 2008 she began working on the 1+1=1,000,000 campaign through The Difference of One.
Board of Directors
Karen Lehner is the founder of The Difference of One and also sits on the board of numerous non-profit organizations, including the Waterkeeper Alliance. Karen is also a singer/songwriter as well as a firm believer in the power each of us has to change the world.
