A Businesses Who Care National Sponsor

Overview
About Me:
I am trying to start a non profit organization to assist Native Americans on and off of reservations, both federally recognized and non recognized tribes. My goal is to open a Native American cultural center and homeless shelter that is available 24/7. It will be called the Longhouse, and it will hopefully be the first of many to help end homelessness. It will be a faith based organization that assists homeless families and educates and promotes Native traditions to all people.
Things I Like to Do For Fun
I enjoy the outdoors and the anything to do with Nature.
Issue(s) I am Passionate About
Native American issues- a small note- The Pine Ridge reservatoin is the eighth largest reservation in the U.S. yet it is the poorest reservation. There are high unemployment rates. 40% of the population live below the Federal Poverty level. Adolescent suicide is four(4) times the national average. Many of the families that have homes/shelters have no electricity, telephone, running water or sewers. They use woodstoves to heat their homes. They do not have enough wood to always keep the fires going through the winter time. Many families burn whatever they can to keep warm, including clothes, furniture, and shoes. Many people are homeless. Many people have died from exposure in the winter.
