My friends and I began our own non-profit organization "A Step For Success" which supplies learning tools, equipment and books to Kelso Elementary School in Inglewood, California. We put together an annual event where we receive most of our donations for the upcoming school year. We've been lucky enough to supply them with computers, printers, scanners, televisions, dvd players and over 1,000 books. We also go to the school and give inspirational speeches and career advice to the students. I also work closely with the Young Survivor Coalition which is a non profit organization that raises funds and awareness for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years ago, a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Stage Four breast cancer and she was only 30. It was a real awakening and I realized I had to get involved. It is so important for women to get regular checkups and perform self exams. I am lucky to be a part of this organization and be able to spread the word.
