Who We Are
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing mistreated, abused or abandoned exotic cats, providing them with a permanent, loving home, and educating the public about the needs of exotic cats. It is our dream that one day there will be no need for exotic animal rescue facilities, but until that day, we will continue to educate the public on the realities of uncontrolled, captive breeding practices and the need for habitat conservation.
Our Organization's Mission
To provide a caring, safe haven to some of God's most beautiful creatures. We put their needs above all else; the old, the maimed, the unwanted can find sanctuary here.
Who We Serve
We serve the animals in our care. We provide our cats with the best care possible, and are committed to providing them with fulfilling, happy lives. We also hope to serve other animals, by educating the public. By sharing the stories of these former pets, discarded entertainment animals, and formerly abused and neglected products of inhumane breeding facilities, it is our hope that our visitors will make educated decisions that will one day reduce the number of exotic animals in captivity.
Our Programs
We are a home to 43 rescued cats, and 1 coatimundi. We have a very active educational program, for local schools, organizations and businesses. We also have a large volunteer program, and an intern program. Our animal husbandry program has been extremely successful, allowing us to provide our cats with medical care with little or no stress. Our enrichment program helps ensure our animals lead emotionally fulfilling lives by keeping them mentally, physically and emotionally engaged.
Upcoming Events
We frequently have events at the sanctuary. Check our website www.insyncexotics.com for updated information.
Leadership Profile
In 1991, Vicky Keahey was working as a vet tech, when someone brought in a young cougar for treatment. Her owner never reappeared, and Vicky agreed to provide Tahoe with a loving home. In helping Tahoe to regain her health, and by working closely with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Vicky learned a great deal about the needs of exotic cats. In 1994, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department asked Vicky to accept another cougar, a male named Ranger. In 1998, she rescued a young tiger named Kenya, with whom Vicky formed a very close bond. Her work with Kenya inspired Vicky to start a non-profit organization dedicated to caring for rescued for exotic felines, and in 2000, In-Sync Exotics was formed.

What Sets Us Apart
In 2006, when one of our tigers, Eric, was stricken with cancer, we implemented a training program under the tutelage of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Through this program, we trained Eric to perform basic behaviors on command, such as down and stand-up, so we could administer his treatments without having to dart him. Sadly, we lost Eric on April 21, 2007, but because of him, this successful program now extends to all of the animals in our care, and includes several other commands that assist us in their care and medical treatments. We can now perform simple procedures, such as innoculations, drawing blood, taking temperatures and performing skin biopsies without having to anesthetize the cats. All training is done with positive feedback only, and the cats seem to really enjoy their training sessions!
Objectives for This Fiscal Year
Completion of three new enclosures for some of our new rescues.
Recent Accomplishments
We have recently completed several new enclosures, for our cougars, bobcats and serval. We also just finished a new enclosure for our coatimundi, and a Visitor Center.
