About Us
Our chapter of PFLAG holds monthly support meetings for anyone wanting information on gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered issues. Often someone who needs support is simply seeking another person to talk to. We educate our community by going to schools, churches, or community groups to discuss and share our own personal stories which reflect around our relationship with the LGBTQ community.
We advocate for LGBTQ issues through a booth we have at a local Farmers Market. Our booth carries information pamphlets on current gay and lesbian issues as well as booklets which are given out free to anyone wanting them.
Who We Are
We are people who love and care about our LGBTQ family and work to see that they receive all equal rights which includes the up hill battle for full marriage rights.
Our Organization's Mission
PFLAG promotes health and well being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through support, education and advocacy to end discrimination and secure equal rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
Who We Serve
PFLAG is proud to serve everyone from children to grandparents. Our meetings are open to all people, all ages, all religious, ethnic and economic groups.
Our Programs
One of our programs is the "Safe Schools For All Students" program. We go into the schools and offer classes to the faculty and staff on students who are being abused verbally and how to best handle the situation. This is especially true of students who are being harrassed for being gay or being perceived as gay. We also try to bring about awareness of language to the teachers and explain why such commonly used phrases like "that's so gay", should not be used. Not to mention the fact that when it comes to gay students there is always the possibility of physical abuse which must be stopped - NOW!
We also have an "Education Panel". This is a group of 4 or more people who go to schools, community groups, or churches and tell our story regarding our gay relative or friend. We always bring a gay man and a lesbian with us who is willing to share their story and answer any questions that arise.

What Sets Us Apart
What sets us apart from other groups in our area is that we never give up the desire to teach others to have open hearts and minds when it comes to LGBTQ people. Our group wants and desires equality on every level for gay and lesbian partnerships - especially marriage. We feel that everyone deserves equal rights and we can only provide this for LGBTQ people through education and being a present force in the community.
Objectives for This Fiscal Year
1- To send packets to all the local schools and remind them that PFLAG is here is help and educate is they need us.
2- To get the local GSA's together and host a "fun" event for them.
3- To continue the fight for Same-Sex marriages.
