The Hospice Foundation of the Florida Suncoast supports programs that work to advance understanding, participation and support for the organizations family of programs which offer interdisciplinary and volunteer palliative care services for those living with a serious illness or condition, their caregivers and those who have experienced loss regardless of race, age, faith, diagnosis or financial circumstances. >>Your life...Our lifes work<<
Who We Are
The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast offers a comprehensive program of medical care, counseling, and spiritual support to people in Pinellas County affected by terminal illness regardless of race, age, faith, diagnosis or ability to pay.
Our Organization's Mission
The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast was founded in 1977 by a group of volunteers dedicated to improving end-of-life care for patients and families in Pinellas County, Florida. Its mission is to provide dignified, quality care that enhances the lives of dying people and their families; assure the mental, spiritual, physical health and well-being of survivors after loss; lead and influence the health and human services community in the care of all people affected by death; shape public opinion and policy on issues related to death, dying, grief and bereavement.
Our Programs
The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast includes in its services: skilled and compassionate care for patients with chronic illnesses nearing the end of life and their families; specialized counseling and support services to meet the unique needs of children and youth through age 21; individual, family and group counseling for anyone affected by grief and loss; a wide range of community support services for patients who are still seeking treatments aimed at cure; free informational and educational resources for the community. The Hospice is supported by nearly 3,000 deeply committed volunteers, whose work is essential to the organization's vitality and success. Its vision is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by death.

What Sets Us Apart
From its humble beginnings, The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast has grown into the largest nonprofit agency of its kind, serving more than 1,700 patients daily. Nationwide, the hospice approach to care and pain management earned such respect that the United States Postal Service issued the Hospice Care Stamp in February 1999 and chose The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast as the official site for its issuance because of the caliber and scope of its care.
Recent Accomplishments
Served more than 2,000 patients and families each day.
Began program of major renovations to Hospice House Woodside and Villas.
Began capital campaign for new Brookside Hospice House
Began new palliative care partnerships with local hospitals.

I was privileged to be holding my father's hand as he passed away, and the palliative care he received at the end of his life made was a blessing.
