Who We Are
We are a 501(c)3, social profit organization based in the Presidio in San Francisco, CA. We work primarily with indigenous tribes in Ecuador, supporting them to remain the natural stewards of the rainforest.
Our Organization's Mission
The Pachamama Alliance has a two-fold mission: 1) to preserve the Earth’s tropical rainforests by empowering the indigenous people who are its natural custodians, and 2) to contribute to the creation of a new global vision of equity and sustainability to all – and the implementation of that vision.

David has been with Pachamama for nearly seven years and has been bridging the global North and South for over a decade. He leads journeys to South America for Pachamama and is a committed student of indigenous earth-based wisdom.

Recent Accomplishments
Key Accomplishments 2007
Our Work in the South
• Pachamama supported the Achuar in negotiating the historic transfer of the Kapawi Ecolodge into their full ownership and will play a key role in the ongoing transference process.
• The Achuar air-service, Aerotsentsak, is now under the leadership of an Achuar manager and is creating a sustainable source of revenue while serving the entire southern Amazon region of Ecuador. Plans are underway to obtain a fourth, larger aircraft that will serve the Kapawi Ecolodge.
• The Shuar Federation FIPSE gained formal recognition of over 100,000 acres of primary forest.
• The Green Plan (Plan Verde) is now a vital part of Ecuador’s national planning, providing an alternative development model that promotes cultural and biological diversity and establishes an indefinite moratorium on oil development in the southern Amazonian region.
• Pachamama’s Ecuadorian operation, Fundacion Pachamama, largely responsible for the accomplishments noted above, celebrates its 10th anniversary supporting Amazonian indigenous communities to defend their territories against extractive industries and to exercise their collective rights.
Our Work in the North
Significant work has been done to deepen the effectiveness and reach of the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium:
• 10,000 people have attended more than 450 Symposiums in over 100 cities and 12 countries, including Indonesia, Mexico, Canada, Australia, UK, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and the US.
• They Symposium has been presented in Spanish and in French, and soon will be translated into other languages.
• An impactful half-day version of the Symposium was produced this year.
• Volunteer teams are creating versions for businesses and youth.
• A major grant was received from the Foundation for Global Community and work has begun to create a facilitated video-intensive version of the Symposium that will enable the message to reach a wider audience.
• The number of trained Symposium Facilitators has grown to nearly 600, with training programs throughout the US, as well as in the UK, Australia and Belgium.
• Key alliances have been formed with organizations such as the Transformational Leadership Council, Institute for Noetic Sciences, CodePink, the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, and PartnerShift Alliance.
• Our travel program had a breakthrough year with 7 groups and more than 110 travelers going on a Pachamama journey to Ecuador, creating significant numbers of direct partners and emissaries for the Achuar people.
