Organization Overview
About Us

Urban Fusion is an innovative nonprofit organization whose focus is toward “at-risk” youth (with inner city focus) within the Greater New Bedford area (approximately 1 hr south of Boston).

The program provides a positive youth-developmental atmosphere within a nurturing, structured environment, specific to learning life-skills important to success.  Urban Fusion does this by incorporating its life-skills and character-building within an innovative Musical Arts program.

Urban Fusion rides on the edge of innovation by incorporating its unique use of Music by directly infusing it into the process of learning valued life-skills.

Besides the unarguable fact that music helps youth and communities in real and substantial ways, Urban Fusion is going one step further to use Music to specifically teach skills valued within every rounded youth, both in the civic and personal arena.

Sidenote:

Urban Fusion has adopted the Search Institute’s Asset Building/Developmental Assets framework as its preferred method for youth development as well its own set of core skill sets and curricula.

Who We Are
As a certified 501c3 nonprofit organization, Urban Fusion is a project of the New Bedford Dakota Foundation. An organization operated SOLELY by volunteers. First and foremost, Urban Fusion centers on providing a positive, character building environment, bringing together children from all backgrounds. While we focus on instilling traits such as teamwork, self-discipline, personal growth, and respect, we also strive to give each child an experience they can benefit from well after leaving our program. We do so in a “Musical Arts” environment.

We created Urban Fusion specifically to provide “life experience” lessons, not just musical arts. Our children learn traits that will benefit them throughout their lives: hard work, self-discipline, and teamwork. Their social skills are also improved as they learn to positively interact in various peer-to- peer and peer-to-mentor relationships.

Our instructional program is lead by a staff of highly dedicated and accomplished individuals, who volunteer their time to make sure every child receives only the best experience possible within the program.

Our Organization's Mission
Urban Fusion strives to positively effect and enrich the lives of young people, instilling confidence and life skills to help them achieve their highest potential as active and capable community members through a professionally supported Fine Arts program.

In addition to a disciplined environment and goals to work toward, Urban Fusion endeavors to provide guidance through the example of committed volunteers, professional leadership and an unparalleled standard of excellence.
